April A- Z Challenge

Mount Wellington

Location:        Hobart Tasmania

Price:              FREE

Why Go:         The view

Website: https://wellingtonpark.org.au/

Spanning 18,011 hectares, Wellington Park is one of lutruwita / Tasmania’s largest areas of reserved land outside of the Tasmanian World Heritage Area. Pinnacle Road is the only vehicle route to the lookout at the summit of kunanyi / Mount Wellington.

Why Visit:

The view is the primary reason people take the trip to Mount Wellington, and it certainly is spectacular.  There are walking trails to the summit, but I highly recommend you join a tour.  It’s a long way to the top, and the traffic and road are appalling.

There are facilities at the top and a nice indoor viewing area, but make sure you take the walking down to the viewing platforms for the best photos.  Also be sure to look at the rear into the interior, which looks how I’d imagine the moon to appear.
