Hi All,
Here’s my new challenge, and since I love music I’ve decided to base it on the titles of songs.
Now first up, in case you missed it, Misky did a wonderful piece for nutbush city limits which you can read here, and feel free to join if you want, here’s how it works
I will give you three prompts
- A song title
- A word count which is based on the number of unique words in the chosen song
- A picture
Your challenge is to write a piece based on any of the prompts, and see if you can keep within the required word count. You have until 6pm the following Monday to post your response.
You can pingback or use the tag itsallinthetitle
Up to it? If so, here are the prompts for this week:
- I Say A Little Prayer by Aretha Franklin
- Word Count – 85 words
- The picture

Here’s my contribution:
Tension oozed from my pores, and I glanced down, certain a puddle would be forming around my feet.
“You don’t have to do this.”
I’d been oblivious to his return, and his stupid comment didn’t make my day, “Like I have a choice.”
He shrugged, “Just saying.”
“Well don’t.” He flinched, and I suppressed a sigh, but as he began to mutter, I swung round, “What the hell are you doing?”
“Saying a little prayer.”
That earnt a withering glare for the father to be.

After I posted this, I realised that I should have left that last word “me” unerased, so I amended the text portion, not having the will to recreate the entire image and fix the layers again.

That is absolutely gorgeous. I love how you weave an alternate tale within the song
