Simply 6 Minutes – Welcome to the Challenge: 01/31/2023

Rising from the bench he sighed, the coldness clung to him like melted chocolate to a wooden spoon, but he wouldn’t rest until the hunt was over.

Walking across the field he eyed the spread of the snow fatalistically. The heavy fall lay thick on the roof of the barn, and his hope faded, but he wouldn’t rest until peace prevailed.

Topping the ridge where blooms flooded the landscape in summer, he felt his heart’s drumming intensify. He’d spied the culprit.

“You,” He yelled at the small black bird perched silent and still, “I demand you leave. There’s only room for one ultra cute bird in this area and that’s me, Detective Duck.”

There was no time for preparation, there was only time for panic, and Nathan was very good at that. Rushing out of the house, the old wooden door banging shut behind him, he scooted past the barn and before taking refuge behind the firewood, neatly cut and stacked.
Here he took a deep breath and waited. He wasn’t stupid enough to think they would concede defeat this easily.
Sure, enough moments later he heard footsteps and they appeared.
“What are you going to do, you’ll never catch him.”
“I don’t want to catch him; I want to film him. This is my chance Max, I even know what I’ll call the clip, Woodcutter Cat. It’ll go viral.”
Nathan rolled his eyes, just what he needed, to become a trend on Tic-Toc.

What fun stories! Despite their length, they’re awfully captivating.
The duck says the first one was “the best micro tale ever written, with a super relatable and awesome protagonist and an incredibly audacious antagonist!”
