This post was written based on the following prompts:
“I turned on the evening news only to see one of the biggest secrets of my life playing out before my eyes.”
“Oh my God, it’s open mic Wally, seriously you’re really laying it on too thick.”
“Shut up Morris.”
“OMG, you are so much the pig’s arse.”
“Our audience doesn’t appreciate toilet humour Morris, you’re free to leave if you think this is all a giggle. No one’s detaining you.”
“But their gonna want slapstick, comedy, a bit of fun, just like that.”
The trio turned as Morris gestured towards the flamingo scooting across the stage of life on its tiptoes, its demeanour one of infectious silliness.
“That’s what they want Wally, something to snigger at, sometime cartoonish, not a morose tale. It’s like hitting a dark wall Wal.”
At Charlene’s dry comment Wal rolled his eyes, he was only trying to enrich their lives.
“Oh, ok, so what do you want me to do then?”
“A jigsaw? “
“A jigsaw, with these hooves, seriously Morris.”
“No, it’s a jigsaw.”
“What’s a jigsaw? Sometimes I wish you weren’t so abstract.”
“We are.” Wal blinked rapidly as Charlene pointed to a box, “See? That’s us.”
Silence met this revelation then Wal smiled broadly.
“I turned on the evening news only to see one of the biggest secrets of my life playing out before my eyes. My life was a jigsaw puzzle being and it was being constructed as I watched on.”
Morris groaned, “Thanks so very much Charlene.”
