What Do You See #118

Through rose coloured glasses she viewed the world

Ignoring the trouble and strife in favour of delight

She didn’t see the child standing hungry on the streets

Nor the old man friendless and withering from lack of love

She paid no heed to the warning that decadence corrupts

Nor listened to the tales of foul deeds which were unjust

She lived her fantasy to the end of her days

Content to ignore those who misbehaved

But just as she was drawing her final breathe

She realised a dark unwanted truth

She had controlled her life, but she couldn’t control death
