
The throne had sat empty since the Elven King had departed, but lore decreed that the first to sit upon it after the full moon would rule in the absent Elves stead.
That night they gathered, and as the moon reached its apex they sought their rest.
All but one, he didn’t covert the throne; he just wanted somewhere safe to rest his head.
It took a long while, but slowly, carefully and diligently he climbed up onto the throne’s seat and promptly fell into a deep slumber.
He awoke to the sound of raised voices.
“All hail King Escargot.”
