I went to my larder but it was bare,
My heart skipped a beat, oh what despair.
In haste I toddled down to shop,
To buy some flour but I would not stop,
I could not be late, for this dinner date.
I passed the flower shop but hurried by,
Dinner was scheduled at eight,
My guest was soon to arrive.
I heard a thud at my door and my heart did leap,
I opened it wide and in he peeped.
He sat down and ate, but I kept my eyes fixed on my plate.
Then without even a bye my guest departed,
Don’t invite a bear for dinner if your fainthearted.
